Really Short Reviews (RSRs)
I’ve been reading and listening to a lot of books lately. Basically every moment my ears are free there’s an audiobook in them (or a podcast). And I’ve read on my Kindle for 147 weeks straight (and every day of 2026 so far).
I read and listen to some well known books and authors, but a lot of smaller ones too.
So, I’m going to start a new series each month with some reviews.
Really short reviews.
Pros and Cons reflect my own personal preferences, not the quality of the writing. What kind of stuff do I lean towards? A few highlights: likable main characters, some spice, quick pace, limited typos, no animal deaths…
I’m generally pretty generous with my stars:
⭐️ = I don’t think I’ve ever given a book one star. If I get tricked into an AI book, this is what it will get only because there are no negative stars.
⭐️⭐️ = It wasn’t for me, was too slow, too many typos, hard to follow
⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Maybe not the most memorable but glad I read it and might be great for someone else
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Well written, kept my attention
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = LOVE, will tell a friend about it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ = Couldn’t put it down and neglected my responsibilities and sleep for it
I reserve the right to adjust these rating definitions as needed 😉
I’ll go back and do January soon too cause I went through a lot of books I want to share that month too.
Ready?
Here we go:

Read on Kindle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a sucker for a series and I’m pretty die hard on this one. (Bree Taggert, #10)
Pros: Likable characters, solid story, well written
Cons: Zero spice 🤷♀️(but I don’t read Melinda for spice, I know what I’m getting into with her)
Audio ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unreliable narrator, didn’t love it, but glad I read it. Teenage characters, pretty sure it’s YA?
Pros: Twisty
Cons: Everyone sucks.
Audio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A little confusing at first, I don’t always love jumping back and forth between time lines, but once I got the rhythm I was into it.
Pros: Fun timely concept, likable FMC, kept me kind of guessing but gave enough to feel like I had an “in” on what was going on, setting is my neck of the woods, solid narrators
Cons: No spice, took a bit to get what was happening
Audio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Freaking adorable. I cried… and that never happens. Made me feel light and happy.
Pros: Super likable MMC and FMC, awesome narration
Cons: ummm? Closed-door spiciness, but didn’t even mind honestly, lol
Audio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love every Kendra book I’ve read. Her series (most of them?) intertwine so you’re getting cameos of other characters you love constantly. (Noelle Marshall, #1)
Pros: FMC and MMC are great, time line jumps are done well, narrators on point
Cons: No real spice, again. (But it doesn’t take away from anything and like Melinda, I know what I’m getting with Kendra.)
Audio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#2 in the Noelle Marshall series. I am nothing if not a chronic series binger. Again, slam dunk.
Pros & Cons: echo of Her First Mistake
Have you read any of these? Agree or disagree with me? Any reqs based on what I’ve been reading?
